The Hoosac Institute presents
an occasional event series. Always: Wednesdays, 8pm Eastern time/5pm Pacific Time
--and all the other times in between and beyond!

Upcoming events: October 21: Ellie Ga and Lisa Tan

Lisa Tan and Ellie Ga are friends and neighbors based in Gröndal, Stockholm. They have been speaking partners and sounding boards for each other’s work for many years.

Born in 1973 in Syracuse, NY, USA, Lisa Tan lives in Stockholm where she is Professor of Fine Art at Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design. She works with video, photography, text, installation, and other gestures. Her own experiences of desire, loss and otherness, serve as drivers for explorations into consciousness, the formation of individual subjectivity, and the role that different representations play in shaping a person’s relationship to the world and to others. She regularly draws from literature, literary theory and the history of photography.

Ellie Ga's work is inspired by the indeterminacy of exploration and the human desire to translate the unknown. She uses a range of media to build my layered narratives: part observational essay, part documentary and part fragmentary storytelling.
